M. Kim Sarasohn, Ph.D.
I believe that psychotherapy offers an opportunity for deep exploration and understanding--a chance to figure out who you are and what you want, protected from the din and pressure of other relationships. Confusion, worry, disappointment, loneliness, hunger, anger and stuckness are some of the feelings that can be tended to in a good psychotherapy.
By close and careful attention to your experience, I will work with you in an empathic and collaborative way to map your internal and external landscapes, identifying fault lines, discovering strengths, finding resources, and shoring up vulnerabilities. In an environment of privacy and safety you may find/re-find motivation and meaning, expanding your choices, and your sense of what is possible.
I draw upon cognitive, dynamic, and experiential methods, to develop and implement effective strategies to overcome obstacles that interfere with your personal and professional achievement, sapping energy and vitality. I will challenge you; but I will hold you in the difficult/unfamiliar/uncomfortable moments as we work to find new ways of being with yourself, with others, and in the world.
I bring more than 20 years of clinical experience to my work. My qualifications include Master’s (M.S.W.) and Doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in clinical social work. I have published on the topics of depression, anxiety, and psychotheraputic treatments.
